Professional Electrocution Fly Killer

Traditional Electrocution Fly Killers (Bug Zappers) are still in high demand. Despite the well known facts that these type of fly killers  can explode insects when electrocuting them causing bacteria and insect particles to become airborne which may cause contamination of food. Customers are still asking for these electrocution fly killers because of lower maintenance and ongoing service costs since they don't require regular glue board replacement. Responding to customer pressure for these machines Simon-8 will be launching a range of Professional Electrocution Fly Killers and a  Standard range.

Are electric zapper fly killers the best way to get rid of flying insects

installing an electric fly killer unit is an obvious choice for any food processing business aware of the harm that can be caused by flies, such as:

  • Possible spread of pathogens and diseases including Salmonella, Cryptosporium, E.coli and Covid-19

  • Contaminated food, drink and work surfaces

  • General nuisance

  • Damage to business reputation

  • Failure to comply with health & safety legislation

  • Bites from some flying insect species such as midges

Electric fly killers attract flies loaded with germs by ultraviolet light and then eliminate them, most often by electrocution. They are only really suitable for indoor use as outside they could attract other non target insects.

Although effective at killing flies indoors, there is a genuine issue. When the fly gets zapped, it explodes and small particles (known as blow out) can be projected into the air, where they can be inhaled by people or land on clean surfaces and food, causing contamination.

Simon-8 has developed a range of Sticky Board Fly Killers designed to reduce the risk of contamination from flying insects and the fragmentation or ‘blow out’ of dead insects associated with electric grid fly zappers. The Simon-8 range of Sticky Board Fly Killers use adhesive coated glue boards, avoiding the problem of insect fragment contamination.

Extensive testing was carried out to ensure our units are highly effective. Using the very best Sylvania branded high power UV insect attractant bulbs at the heart of the unit, flies are attracted to the light and then they are trapped on a specially formulated high tack adhesive within the machine. Simon-8 models operate silently since they are no zapping and Cosmo and Astro are also very discrete keeping trapped insects completely out of sight. Our glue boards have a large trapping capacity and the adhesive is formulated to last for up to 3 months before drying out. These glue boards can be easily, quickly and hygienically replaced without the need for any tools. Made from cardboard and non-toxic, the used glue boards can be disposed of safely into commercial and domestic waste bins.
